The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Despite it being the only good thing about winter, Christmas is probably the most hectic time of the year for me. Granted, it's probably the most hectic time for everyone, but as a nineteen year old university student, it's extra hard. You're responsible for buying your relatives and friend's presents instead of just signing your name along with your parents, you have to get through exams with a clear and focused mind (yeah, right), you have to be "interesting" at your massive family dinner because you're a "big time university student now, tell us what you've learned!!!!!!!" (no thanks), and above all, you have to keep calm when everyone around you goes crazy because you're the only sane one left. It's a tough time.

Today I went to Walmart with my best friend, Holly. It was a madhouse in there. Every single aisle was packed full of people trying to scoop up the remains of the deals that were happening last week, we could barely get through the shampoo aisle. TANGENT: Holly asked one of the employee's there to help her find a certain shampoo she was looking for, but while Holly was leading her to the aisle, she just turned around and walked away. It was completely unprofessional, not to mention extremely rude. Anyway.

The check-out lines were even worse than the aisles. Since it's not the "week of Christmas", not all of the cashiers were open so the line-ups were longer than normal. Wanna hear the best part? The screaming children in the cash directly beside us. Apparently these children's mother doesn't care at all when her children are screaming and crying bloody murder at each other in the middle of a public place, but I do. At each short, shrill scream, I winced. My shoulders and neck hurt from wincing so much. I was paying with debit, and I had to actually focus on "inserting my chip". If you're not going to raise your children to behave properly in a public place, please don't take them out. Or just don't have children, either or. This mother was so uninterested in anything her children were doing, I was baffled at the thought that she was actually a mother. Like c'mon people, get your shit together.

Completely different tangent than Christmas, I apologize. I was really trying to give this post a subject!

Anyway, Christmas is hectic. I still have to write and send out cards to friends in different corners of the world. I'm a procrastinator even in my spare time, what can I say? On the plus side, I'm completely done my Christmas shopping! Except for my brother, he is probably the hardest person I know to shop for. I asked him what he wanted for Christmas, and he said "world peace". Such a comedian. Oh well, that'll be my worry for a couple days. If anyone has any creative or new ideas, leave them in a comment!

Have a great Christmas, everyone!
